The AE2 Commemorative Foundation Ltd (AE2CF) was founded by the Submarine Institute of Australia (SIA) in 2006. The aim of the Foundation is to preserve and protect the wreck of HMAS AE2 in the Sea of Marmara and to promote its historical significance, both in relation to the history of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) and of World War I, throughout the wider community.
The AE2CF actively works with key organisations both in Australia and Turkey in order to achieve its vision, mission and strategic objectives. A summary of these is provided in Guiding Principles and Plans.
In order to achieve its vision, mission and strategic objectives, the AE2CF has a Board of Directors and office bearers who are committed to the good governance of the Foundation. More detailed information about these is included in Governance.
The AE2CF has to date achieved its vision, mission and strategic objectives through undertaking a range of activities involving Australian and Turkish historians, divers, marine archaeologists, scientists, documentary-makers and administrators. These activities are listed and linked to reports of specific expeditions and workshops in Activities.
